Kit Review – Regatta Softshell Jacket from Outdoor Look

I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by someone who had been searching for guides on how to connect and engage with bloggers (as part of the marketing mix for their business). Sara had found my digital marketing blog (my day job) and by happy coincidence she realised I was also an outdoors type – so she gave me a shout.

She was looking to connect with walkers who might want to try out both some kit ( a softshell jacket) and also the online shop and fulfillment service from her company Outdoor Look. The disclaimer part here of course is that I went through the search and browse/ selection process and had a good look around the site but the softshell was then sent out FOC to me to review and keep.

Having worn it on a recent Nidderdale hike and also twice up on’t moors above me (in drizzle, not heavy rain, it has to be said) I can say it is indeed water-repellent and wind resistant To my mind the sort of jacket you’d wear for three seasons but not (as an outer) in winter. The two big inner pockets are great and the detachable hood (although without a stowaway area) is also a good fit.

A really useful softshell – and in black, so slimming too! – result. (note: tail is not model’s own).

Two points of note also about this particular kit review which made me feel good: Sara was really friendly and helpful. And that seems to be the overall ethos for this Macclesfield-based company, judging by their ‘feefo’ customer ratings score.
And secondly, Regatta are still (I believe?) a North West (UK) based family business, which kind of feels good.
