When friend Jenny suggested a trip to the Cairngorms, I jumped at the chance. She had been out with Cairngorm Treks previously and really enjoyed the experience. So she liaised with Simon (Lead Guide and owner) to arrange a trek for a few of us (myself, Jenny, Karl and Taru: challenge walk mates in the guise of ‘Butterley Booters’).

Which is a personal best for her, as her younger ‘barf zone’ limit was around 45 minutes. I’d stopped trying longer trips with her but … Keep reading >
Hot on the heels of the recent Yorkshire 3 Peaks hike, I just completed the Offa’s Dyke challenge as a Red Cross fund-raiser. Credit where it’s due: the vast majority of the money raised in my case was actually by my walking compadres on challenges like this: Taru, Jenny and Karl (a.k.a “The Butterley Booters’ .. named after a local reservoir and a local beer). … Keep reading >
