Kit Review: Wisport Caracal Rucksack 25L A-TACS LE

Why did I jump at the chance of reviewing the Wisport Caracal rucksack? Well, I’ve written before about being raised in a forces household and (maybe because of that?) consequently liking military wear. Khaki outdoors trousers, military grade boots (I love my Altberg Tetheras) etc. And I’m typing this wearing a gun-metal blue shirt with patch pockets. My old man (RAF) would be proud.

Then again, faux military clothing can be a bit de rigueur in the marketing / creative communications world that I’m in.

Kit Review – Grisport Quatro Backpacking boot

I was contacted at the end of the summer by outdoors brand Grisport and asked if I wanted to review a boot from their range. I went for the Grisport Quatro Backpacking Boot: based on the spec, the looks and some online reviews. Now, I’m actually very happy with the Altberg Tethera boots that I have, they’re solid boots that have stood up to anything the moors around me (and more mountainous trips) have thus far thrown at them. But they can almost be a bit too ‘solid’ in summer or autumn and for ‘lighter’ trail walking, feel a little inflexible (which is the point, I know).

Kit Review – Merrell Allout Sieve hiking sandal

I was contacted by Merrell’s marketing partner (BrandNation) as I was in the planing stage for a trip to the USA. This was mostly an empty-nester road trip for Mrs k and I, taking in two  cities (Brooklyn/ NYC and Boston) but I had a couple of hikes planned. So the offer of a pair of the new Merrell Allout Sieve hiking sandal was very welcome.
